Carin E. Golze

When Carin joined Alan’s firm, she did not need to apply for a position. Instead, she was approached directly by Alan, who saw in her certain qualities: hard work, passion for the law, and an ability to connect with people.

At that time, she was working as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Judge William R. Nicklas in the Circuit Court for Frederick County, Maryland, after graduating from the University of Baltimore School of Law. She had already spent a year with the Office of the Public Defender, working as a student attorney, handling District Court criminal dockets, and had already tried a criminal jury trial in which her client was acquitted.

Carin has always focused on advocacy, even before becoming a lawyer. After graduating from Washington College, she worked for numerous nonprofit organizations in Washington, D.C., fighting to get funding and legislation passed at the State and Federal levels. Using that knowledge, she applied for and received a grant to intern in the legal department of Frederick County’s Heartly House, an organization that she continues to support today. If Heartly House needs volunteer coverage for their cases, they know they can call upon Carin to continue the fight.

Since joining the firm in 2014, Carin has created a reputation in the Courthouse for advocating for dads and moms alike after years of taking on family law, divorce, and custody cases. You can expect a lengthy initial meeting when you sit down with Carin as she gets to know you, your life, and what’s important to you. By making this a personal experience, she can better tell your story to a judge and get results.

Carin is equally involved outside the courtroom as the attorney coach of the Tuscarora High School Mock Trial Team, Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Frederick County Mental Health Association, President of the Family Law Section of the Bar Association of Frederick County, and a member of Frederick Community College’s Advisory Committee for its paralegal program.

Carin grew up on a farmette in Middletown, Maryland, and continues to care for and ride her horses with her family there. She currently lives in Downtown Frederick with her husband, Mike, and their Jack Russell Terrier– Finley.
